The Houston Astros activated veteran catcher Jason Castro from the 10-day injured list prior to Friday night's game against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks.

Castro has been battling right knee discomfort. He last played for the Astros on Aug. 25.

The 34-year-old Castro is batting just .190 with four homers and 13 RBIs in 55 games this season.

The 11-year veteran is in the first campaign of his second stint with the Astros. He was an All-Star in 2013 as part of his earlier six-season tenure.

Overall, Castro has batted .228 with 92 homers and 314 RBIs in 907 career games with the Astros, Minnesota Twins (2017-19), Los Angeles Angels (2020) and San Diego Padres (2020).

Houston optioned catcher Garrett Stubbs to Triple-A Sugar Land in a corresponding move. Stubbs batted .176 with three RBIs in 18 games for the Astros.

Houston entered Friday with a seven-game lead over the Oakland Athletics in the American League West.
